We are well into the New Year. The new toys and gifts are starting to look not-so-new. New Year’s resolutions—well we won’t go into detail on that one. A new semester has begun at Fresno Adventist Academy. New just doesn’t stay new forever but God has a remedy for that, He will give us a new heart and we have the gift of a new day when we wake up each morning. God is so good! What will you do with today?
Certificates were prepared for Principal’s List, Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance. Second quarter/first semester grades have been delivered. As I was doing some sorting and filing in my office over the break I came across a cartoon that I had clipped from a newspaper that I would like to share. The heading is: “School district introduces Parental Report Cards.” It shows a picture of parents looking at the grades they have earned. Time for some self-reflection, enjoy!
I just want to take a minute to pass on some bragging rights for our juniors! They did outstanding on the PSAT. Out of 14 juniors we have 12 meeting the benchmark in English/Reading/Writing and 11 out of 14 meeting the Math benchmark. We can be quite proud indeed! Keep up the good work!
We have had a shift in the handling of finances. Miranda is now working at the main office and the point person for FAA is Nancie Dempsey. Please direct all financial questions to her and she will assist you. She can be contacted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 251-5548 extension 118.
FACTS has two payment charges; the first is for just tuition and the second is for incidentals such as but not limited to: hot lunch, field trips, sports, bus, after school care… Please make sure that both are being paid to avoid late fees.
Morning drop off routine: We are having some students being dropped off by the classrooms before 7:50. Please remember that there is no supervision by the classrooms at that time and students must be dropped off at the gym if you come before 7:50. All the teachers are making extra effort to pick up their students at the gym and be at the classroom by 7:50. The safety of our students is very important and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Student-led Revival Series
The Student-led Revival Series is taking shape. There are so many students that feel called to participate in the preaching that we will be having three each night to accommodate all of them—what a great problem to have! Other students will be doing the “behind the scenes” work such as coordinating special music, praise singing, writing and performing skits, running the PA and audiovisual, child care and more. There are already several requests for baptism. We hope and pray that you will show your support with your prayers and your presence. Please reserve this time on your calendar and plan to join us February 6-10 for just one hour each evening, 7:00-8:00, in Ricchiuti Auditorium. On Sabbath, February 11, we will be having a special convocation with our area churches at 11:00 to culminate this time of revival.
Fresno Adventist Academy Alumni Weekend is April 29. Pass along the invitation so more can join us for this special Sabbath of remembering the past, appreciating the present, and looking forward to the future! There will even be a time to celebrate the marriage of Mr. Rico Balugo and his new bride Nori at 5:00 Sabbath evening!
Central California Conference held the annual Bible Challenge on January 21st at Armona Union Academy. Our fifth and sixth grade team came in third place overall and our seventh and eighth grade team placed first. We are very proud of our students and would also like to thank Mrs. Creitz for all of her preparation for this event.
Last weekend was our annual Central California Conference Friendship Games Basketball tournament held at Fresno Adventist Academy. We hosted schools from Armona Union Academy, Monterrey Bay Academy and Bakersfield Academy. We enjoyed vespers, Sabbath services and friendly competition including a three-point buzzer beater!
