Fall 2007
Becoming the Premier School
Principal, Dan Kittle, announced at Back to School Night that FAA is on track to becoming the Number One Premier Private School in the Fresno area.
FAA on the Move and Getting Better all the Time!
FAA is so blessed. We have added some new people to our great 2007-2008 staff. We are becoming the best campus in Central California.
Rod Kerbs, former principal of Armona Adventist Academy is now our Chair of Academic Standards and is now teaching Visual Performing Arts at FAA. Mr. Kerbs is very experienced in Adventist education and is well known in the Conference. Hear Mr. Kerbs on a podcast talking about the value of Christian education. Read some of his writings at the Pacific Union Recorder. We are so fortunate to have Rod Kerbs at FAA.
Yvette Kerbs is our new receptionist and accounting clerk. And she is married to Rod Kerbs. They are an amazing team. Wow!
Richelle Rickard is our new Development Director. She is the former Dakota Adventist Academy Development Director. Here is an article she wrote. Richelle Rickard is going to do a dynamic job for FAA and our Alumni.
Jim Rickard, that is right, we also have Mr. Rickard! Well, Mr. Rickard is a unique personality also. He is an outstanding math teacher from Bismark, North Dakota. Check this out, "On February 5, 2006 DAA math teacher, Jim Rickard took three eighth graders Leanna Quaile, Mathew Boyko, and Gabrielle Myers and one seventh grader Thomas Chapman, from Brentwood SDA Elementary School to the Math Counts in Bismarck. Leanna Quaile received second place at the competition. The students competed against 96 of the best math students in the Burleigh and Morton counties." Mr. Rickard is a winner! He is our new math teacher and is the Junior Class Sponsor.
Pastor Courtney Ray is our new teacher of religion and SA Sponsor. She is recently from the Miracle Temple in Philadelphia where she was the Assistant Pastor and Youth Pastor for three years. Prior to that Pastor Ray taught math and science in New York.
Karen Christy is our new foreign language teacher and our WASC (accreditation) Administration Assistant. Ms. Christy will be teaching Spanish but also knows French. She formerly taught at Exeter High School.
We are so fortunate to have Kristen Eller as our student teacher this year. Ms. Eller is from Southern Adventist University in Collgate, Tennessee and majors in Bible Studies with a minor in biology. Southern has just been ranked in the Top Colleges for 2008 by US News.
Todd Paige is our new Business Manager. Mr. Paige is very knowledgeable and also works at the Conference office in Planned Giving & Trust Services. Mr. Paige is also the former treasurer of the Clovis SDA Church.
Please take the time to say hello to the newest members of our outstanding FAA team and say hello to our returning staff.
Going Green on Campus
Hot new stuff! We are installing a solar electrical system on campus similar to the system that was recently installed at Fresno State and the Conference office. It is an amazing project that will benefit us far into the future. FAA, thinking ahead!
A Campus of the Move
Mission trips, field trips and travel are part of the plan this school year to educate our children. We are proposing a trip to New Orleans to help rebuild the homes of some of the Adventist families in that area. Local outreach programs are being developed to spread the word of Christ. Some are planning a trip to Europe this spring. There is talk about a mission trip to Thailand and a field trip to Catalina Island (including the Ronald Reagan Museum).
Advanced Placement Classes
AP classes in English and chemistry are being offered. There initial plans about taking Honors Students to a national convention.
Dr. James Walton, Head of the English Department at Fresno State, has ofter to help the FAA English Department this year.
After School Learning Lab
An intervention program is being developed to assist those that need a push and those that are under-challenged. FAA is now offering individual students help in their studies. An after school learning lab is now available to your child.
School Board Chair gets a New Job
Todd Bristol, our school Board Chair (former FAA teacher and former math teacher at Hoover HS), has just accepted a new position at CART (Center for Advanced Research and Technology) in Clovis. Mr. Bristol brings an enormous amount of experience and leadership to our school board.
New Name, same Smile
One of our most favorite teachers, Teri Ann Ricchiuti, is now Teri Ann Ricchiuti-Losey! Wow, good people just keep on getting better.
Local geologist and engineer, Tom Krazan, has offered to help teach Mrs. Ricchiuti-Losey's earth-science class this year. Science rocks!!!! Literally!
New School Website
And of course, you are experiencing our new school website thanks to Dan Kittle (principal) and his hard work this summer. It is not just a new look, it is a new campus!!!!!
This is going to be a great school year! God keeps blessing our campus!
