Religion 1 Project 1 Guidelines

Students will work in pairs to create a project surrounding an Old Testament book of the Bible. It may or may not be in the form of a paper. Students are encouraged to be creative. However, regardless of the project format, each project must be accompanied by a 3-5 typewritten pages that thoroughly explain the project. Included within the paper, students should answer the following questions:

What section of the Old Testament does this book fit into?

How is it similar or different from the other books in its section?

Who is the author of this book?

What is the message and theme of this book?

Who is the audience for this book?

What date was this book written?

How can the message of this book apply to Christians today?

Students will also be asked to: (1) give an outline of the chapters, major sections, and parts within the book AND (2) give a personal reflection on what this book means to you.

By Oct 1 all groups will submit an initial concept for their project and outline of their paper, including full bibliographic documentation of five sources that the teacher can review, apart from websites, and this course’s textbooks [25%]

By the Oct 15 all groups will submit the first page of the paper including introduction and initial development of the body of the paper [25%]

Groups will be scheduled to present their projects to the class at various intervals throughout the month of November [25%]

Students will be graded on thoroughness/accuracy, cohesiveness, creativity, neatness, grammar/spelling.
